Stephen's Staph Infection?

At around 8 p.m. on August 23, Stephen said he wanted to visit the urgent care facility in town. Luckily, they were open when we arrived. The doctor said he likes Stephen, bue he's afraid he would have to go to the emergency room instead. It was too big of a project for them. Sure, his knee was swollen, red and incredibly painful and he had been running a fever around 101 Farenheit for the previous 48 hours.
At this point, I needed to contact his mother, because she would need to know about this. I called and she arrived in under 12 minutes. Blood was drawn to check for an infection, and fluid was extracted from the knee over the next half hour. After an IV was inserted, saline water got things started. Then the nurse returned with news that there was evidence of a staph infection in his system. This has yet to be confirmed, however, he said, because there may be other elements involved.
The staff physician was contacted to approve his admittance to the hospital. He will have surgery today (August 24) with the goal of rinsing (irrigating) the infected area thoroughly using a scope and special chemicals, that may only be a combination of antibiotics.
Add this activity to everything else in my life. It was a very busy day, and will likely prove to be the same tomorrow.
