Stephen appeared to be completely relaxed and recovered from surgery immediately afterwards. He ate two fresh spring rolls that my mom had prepared and could have easily eaten a few more. I'm sure they're not feeding him very much and because it's hospital food, it probably is bland.
Today I talked with my friend Anthony so we could catch up with each others lives. He seems well, but my impression is that he needs to find a profession that will pay him a consistent salary. He and I will talk again soon and I will share my thoughts with him.
Also today, I will be making a few phone calls to potential employers, although my former employer needs help figuring out the filing system of the other employee she let go.
Yesterday evening I spoke with my friend George and his health is good, which makes me happy. He had taken a trip to Montreal and Quebec and had some fun. He said he's still dating Debbie and that relationship is going well. He also told me an interesting story about his home air conditioner. He was leaving for a lunch date with a friend, but apparently, he couldn't turn off the a/c like he wanted. He decided to call an air conditioning repairman who arrived in short order. The young man inspected the unit and found that nothing was wrong except that a bug had landed on and died on the relay switch, thereby making it unresponsive to any efforts that George made. At this point, George asked the repairman if he could also serve as a coroner, so he could figure out how long the air conditioning had been running as a result of the bug's death. The young man couldn't give the time of death, however, if he could, George may have been able to approximate his bill as a result of this bug. My response was, "Again it proves that bugs control the world." It seemed a witty comment at the time.
