The late President Ronald Reagan

Gosh, Golly, Gee Whiz! I almost forgot to post the news about my recent trip to Washington D.C.!
Certainly, the occassion for the trip was not one of joy, but the city was delightful. It was for the funeral of Ronald W. Reagan. He was an astoundingly wonderful president and I would have been very pleased - tickled, even - if he could have stayed in office for about 50 years so that our nation could once again become one of free enterprise and less taxes. Additionally, a nation in which people are polite and respectful to others.
About traveling to the area...from memory now, so please forgive any and all inaccuracies. When I find my notes with my exact directions, I will re-post these instructions.
Here's the trick of the journey: from the Detroit metro area, one should follow I-75 to 80 to 76 to 70 to 270, I think, and finally to the Shady Grove Exit. Get a hotel room, and park the car near the Shady Grove metro subway line and follow the red line through D.C. and get off in the Capitol area. Anyway, it was a great time and I was amazed and impressed by the majesty of the marble buildings and sidewalks. Of course, that isn't anything compared to the majesty of the presidential funeral procession. The profundity of the attendance of the heads of state of nearly every leader of the free world.
And, you may not have yet heard something astounding about my brush with a very famous person. After the funeral was over, I happened to see the one, the only, the wonderful, Barbara Walters. She stood about 6 feet from me. I whipped out my camera phone and snapped a picture! How exciting! She's one of my lifelong heros. But wait, there's more. In my excitement, I failed to (duh) SAVE the pic. Um...I guess I have a second excuse and that is that the equipment is new enough that I really didn't think about it at all. Wow, like when will I ever see HER again?!?!
And then, of course, I was thrilled when I saw President Ronald Reagan's very own Secretary of Defense, George Schultz, no less!
