Modified recipe from the Hutterites of central Montana

First I must comment that raw food is my preferred diet and most recipes on this blog are raw. However, once in awhile I will allow a particularly healthy, although cooked, recipe to be posted.

This cabbage soup recipe was originally from the Hutterites of central Montana near my Aunt Gladys. Since I originally copied their recipe, however, I've altered it to include more ingredients and more details. One thing is certain and that is that it will produce a significant amount of soup for a large family (10-12 servings). I hope you're hungry!

CABBAGE SOUP

Boil 2 quarts water and add the following:
3 cups coarsley grated cabbage
1 cup chopped onion 1/2 inch section peeled and minced ginger root or 2 minced garlic cloves
1 - 28 ounce can of diced tomatoes
1 medium diced green pepper
3 diced carrots
3 chopped celery stalks
2 teaspoons paprika
2 tablespoons olive oil

Add 1/2 cup cream, 1/2 cup flour.
Cook until all vegetables are tender.

Again, I must remind my weblog visitors (you) that I do not advocate consuming ingredients from animals (milk, cream, meat) nor ingredients which are refined (sugar, flour, etc.). And I will state for the record that this recipe compromises my raw vegan objectives, but as far as cooked food goes, this is a healthier option than ordering a hamburger from a fast food restaurant.

I hope y'all enjoy the 10-12 servings of this delightful, mostly healthy recipe.
