Current Policy

This policy was found on another weblog and found it interesting. I am not saying that I agree with it, but thought I would share nontheless. It says the following:

I allow and encourage any and all comments, but I do have rules you must follow. They are:

1. Do not include any links to commercial sites.
2. Do not include in any comment any material that is offensive, libelous, abusive or threatening.
3. Do not include any illegal statements or links to any illegal content.
4. Do not purposefully post the same comment more than once.
5. Stay on-topic. It's nice that you want to expound on your independent ideas or your personal philosophy, but do so on your own dime, please. Comments are intended to be exactly that: commentary on the topic originally posted, or on comments left by others.
6. Do not post a comment that is a duplicate of comments on multiple blog or other web sites.
7. No hit-and-run links allowed. The comments area is intended for comments, not advertising for your site or a graffiti slate for trash links. If you want to make an actual comment, conservative or liberal, I'll be happy to host the link to your site, as I often have in the past. But if you just come in to add an adversarial link and then run, it will be deleted.

Any posts that do not follow these rules may be deleted. If, in my personal opinion, a person broke these rules intentionally, I will delete the relevant posts and ban their IP address. I maintain the right to delete any post or ban any IP at my discretion. However, by doing so, I do not in any way assume any responsibility, legal or otherwise, for the content of outside comments.

A few who have had comments deleted and IPs banned have accused me of silencing their political ideas. Untrue. I have banned those who express both liberal and conservative views alike, and those with pure commercial intent. If you review comments on this site, you will note that both liberal and conservative views are expressed in comments preserved here. If you follow the rules and do not act improperly or maliciously, your comment will be respected and preserved. Thank you for respecting this policy, and thank you for contributing to this site!
